University Students Between Lectures

For successful freshmen, surviving isn’t enough, they also need to thrive in the college. This is the time when students need to embark to a whole exciting and new adventure in their lives. College is more than just another school. It is the actual step that decides our career and future. Beginning a college life should be implemented properly. For freshmen this could be quite overwhelming, They could feel frightened and excited at the same time. A good starting point is to attend the orientation program. However, students may still feel that they have a few unanswered questions. College life is different, so students should know how to balance between college tasks, relaxing and making friends. College life is more than just about studying and working 24/7.

After a few months, students may feel that they could survive the college, but they shouldn’t stop right there. In order thrive, students should be able to complete assignments and try to stand out among other students. They shouldn’t miss even a single class and they need to have a highly structured class attendance system. College life guarantees almost total freedom, professors and lecturers won’t be angry if students skip classes. If the attendance level is too low, there will be a system of warnings, that will culminate into a termination. This is an opportunity for students to be able to show their responsibility. Students only need to pay attention in the class and take notes. If freshmen have problems with the learning material, they need to stay active, such as approaching the lecturers and professors, through direct conversation or email.

Another thing that students should do is to regularly meet with their academic advisers about the course that they need to take. It is important for them to be able to work together with other students in a study group. Excellent time management skill is also essential and it is a daunting task for many students. They also need to do a lot of reading tasks. Unfortunately, reading material can be quite tedious even for highly motivated students. In this case, students should be able to discipline themselves and allocate enough time for the reading tasks. They need to plan ahead and if possible keep track of their existing assignments. It is important to realistically determine the proper time management.

Students need to do many things, such as completing assignments, doing papers, reading and studying. A simple tool like a loud alarm clock would be very helpful. There should be a time planner app in the smartphone or tablet, so students can be reminded of things that they need to do today and tomorrow. Students should keep their room clean and organized, so it’s possible for them to move forward and gain new things. Disorganized room could affect our mood and may even trigger a conflict with the fellow roommate. Students should have a great faith on themselves. Thriving students are those who are feeling confident.
