First and foremost, we need to understand what exactly hickey is? A hickey is love bite or a symbol of passionate night that might often lead to embarrassment. Doctors have named love bite differently. They termed it Ecchymosis. Ecchymosis is an injury rather a bruise that was caused due to hard suction. As reported by digital journal, which is a world renowned digital network, more than often, if your lover kisses you with extreme passion, then it might capture the blood capillaries beneath the skin causing them to rupture and get damaged. This makes the blood vessels appear as a dark red blotch which with time would turn deep purple.

The good thing is that you do not need to go to a doctor as the healing process happens by itself. Most of the times, hickey has a tendency of appearing near the neck. With the passage and time, the bruise and the swelling both subside and it becomes back to normal. There are no scars left behind.
