Studies have always been the crux of our lives. It helps to groom ourselves so that we can lead a successful life in the future. It is necessary to choose a right career path so that you can excel in whatever you do. But with the many options available, it is very difficult to make the right decision. These days, the focus is all on the engineering stream. It is a cut-throat competition to get a good score which can get you into one of the finest institutes in the country. The competition is neck to neck and you may miss out on an opportunity by a mere 0.01% difference. You should be able to gauge the current position when you are in IIT  Coaching. The faculty will help you to choose from the wide range of colleges such as DTU, NITs and IIITs. Therefore, weigh your options and find the best institute which can cater to your future needs. Let us look at the DTU, NIT and IIIT in detail before we make the comparison.

DTU

DTU is better known as Delhi Technological University. It has been in existence since the year 1941 and has been training the youth for trained technical manpower by sound theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge. It has a humongous range of programmes such as engineering, arts and sculpture, technology, pharmacy, commerce and architecture. It has been associated with Delhi University since 1952 and has been formally providing programmes for Degree Levels. DTU has been compared to some of the best institutes in the country such as NITs and IIITs. But it has a cut-throat competition with many institutes in NITs and IIITs as they have branches spread across the country.

Although the quality remains more or less the same, the number of branches can be an area that defeats DTU from NITs and IIITs.

DTU vs NITs

NIT is abbreviated from National Institutes of Technology. It has around 31 institutes across the country that can be directly compared to DTU and IITs.

Infrastructure: Speaking about NIT and if you directly compare NIT Delhi with DTU then you would surely find DTU as the first option. The reason for this biased comment is that it has better academic excellence along with amazing hostel accommodations which make it easy for students to come from different parts of the country. While NITs are older institutes, the infrastructural facilities might demotivate you.

Location: DTU has the biggest advantage of its location that is Delhi, the capital city. Even if someone is not able to get into any of the technical jobs, the capital will embrace him or her with many non-tech job options.

Average Salary Package: The average salary package in DTU is 6 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum while in NIT, it is 4 lakhs to 5 lakhs.

Best Branches: DTU is known for three of its branches which are Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronic and Communication Engineering. NIT’s best branches are CSE (placement wise), Mechanical (Faculty) and Biotechnology (emerging branch).

Quality of education: No matter how old or new a college is, NITs have been consistent in providing quality education to students for ages now.

Ranking: The best NIT that is NIT Tiruchirappalli has been ranked as 11 by NIFR ranking while the rank of DTU by NIFR is 39.

Placement: DTU has been ranked third in placement in the year 2017 while NIT has been ranked 7th and when I am saying NIT, I am referring to the top NIT and that is Tiruchirappalli.

IIITs

Popularly known as Indian Institute of Information Technology, this college has many branches like that of NIT. We will have a look into its infrastructure, location, quality of education, job placement and ranking to find out its stand compared to DTU and NIT.

Infrastructure: While the infrastructure or IIIT still is a decent one, DTU excels in this respect. While NIT is compared to be a two-tier college, it is not the same categorization for IIIT. The irony of IIIT Ranchi is that it is situated inside the campus of NIT Jamshedpur. Also, NIT Jamshedpur is considered as one of the finest in the country. It has a very nice ambience as both the institutes not only share the same campus but a lot of things together. The hostel is common for all students and it provides one room to a single student giving proper privacy for better focus on studies. The facility is also the same and has a great environment for studies.

Location: Unlike DTU, IIITs are spread across the country and therefore becomes an ideal college for people from various regions of India. If I am from a small city of Ranchi, I would like to opt for IIIT Ranchi and not DTU.

Quality of Education: IIIT Delhi being under the umbrella of IIIT has a lot of weightage when IIT JEE Coaching takes place as most of the students’ eye for IIITs only irrespective of any institute they get. Moving out from home town would not be a difficult task. It all depends on the rank you score in the IIT JEE exams. Study hard and score well with quality IIT JEE Coaching so that you can get the institute of your choice.

Average Salary: The average salary of IIIT is 6 to 7 lakhs.

Best Branch: The best branches of IIIT are CSE and ECE.

Ranking: Although the placement ranking is not as good as that of DTU and NITs, IIIT Delhi being the best has had the record of placing 342 students in 102 companies that visited. Isn’t that a thought you would like to give.

Students approach

Students have shown a trend of following old school ways when it comes to colleges and institutions for Engineering. DTU and IIIT are the newbies and they have established themselves as reputed in short span of time. Check the statistics presented by various critics before you choose DTU, NIT or IIIT. DTU is the most preferred by the students of North India, NITs and IIITs have fan followings from all parts of the country owing to many branches they have.

Good luck, do your best to get into a college of your choice.
