If you’re the lucky owner of a new Samsung Galaxy S9, we must admit that we’re a bit jealous. That’s a pretty amazing device you have there! And let us take a wild guess, you’re here because you want to find the quickest way to get rid of the carrier lock and use it on any network you want right?
Well, we have some good news: it’s easier than you can imagine.
If you want to unlock Samsung Galaxy S9, you can rely on three different methods: asking your carrier to do this for you, flashing a custom firmware, or, obviously, by code. Let’s see what each of them implies.
Asking your carrier to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S9
If your phone is carrier locked, we’re going to presume that you got it with a two-year contract, directly from the carrier. In this case, we have some bad news for you: you can’t unlock the phone using this method, at least for the moment.
You will be eligible for this after your phone will be paid in full and your contract over. Therefore, try in two years.
Flashing a custom firmware
Technically speaking, this is one of the most difficult methods of unlocking your handset. You need to have some proper knowledge about this, not to mention that there are situations in which some users who attempted this totally damaged your phones.
You can find guides on how to root your phone and flash a custom firmware, but there’s no guarantee that this will work, so we’re not recommending this method either.
Unlocking the phone using a code
Unlike the previous two methods, this one is way easier and safe, not to mention that you can do it right after getting your new Samsung Galaxy S9. You just enter a code from UnlockUnit in your phone and you’re all good to go.
In order to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S9, you need to fill in the order form with a few details about your phone. We’re talking about the name and country of the network on which the phone is locked, the IMEI, which can be found by dialing *#06#, and a valid email address, where you will receive the code.
After this, proceed to payment and wait until you receive the code via email. Usually, it happens in about an hour.
Now, it’s time to insert the code. Just follow these steps:
- Turn off the phone you want to unlock
- Insert the SIM from an unsupported network in your Galaxy S9 and wait until you get a message like “SIM network unlock PIN” or similar
- You should also see a box where you can insert the code. Type it using your keyboard.
- Press the “Unlock” button, right under the box
And that’s all! After this, your phone will display the “Unlock successful” message, meaning that you can now use it in any carrier’s network. Any carrier around the world that is!
