Ok, everyone wants the fairytale wedding… but not everyone has the cash to make it happen. Weddings are expensive… really – REALLY expensive. Most people don’t realize how much money goes into a planning a wedding until they actually jump in the drivers seat and start planning their own wedding. Unfortunately for many couples major debt is created because they want the wedding of their dreams. Yes, this is a once in a lifetime celebration, but there are ways to save some cash and throw the wedding of your dreams at the same time.
Cut the guest list… CUT IT!
Don’t worry about hurting feelings… you must worry about hurting your pocket. Think about yourself and your significant other before anyone else. This is your wedding, so you need to realize you’re the only one that needs to be happy. If you make a budget for fifty people… keep it to fifty, do NOT go over. Budgets are not made to be bent OR broken. Invite your closest friends and family, and the rest of the people will understand. Bigger weddings are not always better.
Have Your Wedding During The Off-Seasons
Believe it or not, having a wedding during the off-seasons can save you boatloads of money. When there is more competition for certain dates, the price will go way up. So why not plan a wedding to land on a date with less competition. This way you will have room to negotiate, plus you don’t have to rush around and battle for the exact day you want. Does it really matter if you get married on New Years Eve? I guess to some it does, but if you’re on a budget… it shouldn’t. And if you are afraid of the cold weather or rain… you can always have your wedding and wedding reception inside.
Flowers, Flowers and more Flowers
You can save a lot of money on flowers if you know what you are doing. First, try and find flowers that are in season. This will not only give you a discounted price; it will make it easier to order a certain amount of flowers on the day you want. When the flowers are in season there is more to choose from and therefore it cost less to purchase. Another way to save with your floral arrangement is to stick to TWO kinds of flowers. There’s no need to purchase five different kinds of flowers. Two is just as nice, especially if they are bright and beautiful.
So stick to these steps and you’ll have some extra cash left over to splurge on things like beautiful wedding invitations, delicious food and even the wedding ring!
